Wild Foods and Medicine Updates

Wild Foods and Medicine Updates

In this time of social distancing, it is a weekly learning curve to figure out how to best show up for each other and the land. In our Wild Foods and Medicines Program we’ve been leaning into this learning curve with help from the land itself. Douglas Fir teaches us to adapt; it has been around since the time of dinosaurs and can live to be 1,000 years old. Douglas Fir has seen a lot and has much to teach us about surviving and thriving in challenging situations.

Working with the plant teachings, we’ve adapted our programming.

Our two, year long Indigenous Learning Cohorts - are now online. Our Tend, Gather & Grow Teacher Trainings - online. Our community workshops - yes, you guessed it online! Check out this list of free downloadable resources from our Tend, Gather and Grow curriculum, here.

We grieve the fact we aren’t all together under the shade of GRuB’s apple tree snacking on chickweed, or on the prairie sharing stories of the land. And we also give thanks that we are still able to connect.

Through learning how to adapt, we’ve asked members of our plant community to share their knowledge and skill. Over the last month, we’ve hosted four online webinars at sliding scale (no one turned away) with some amazing and generous teachers. You can find recordings on how to grow medicinal herbs, plants for emotional wellness, and how to grow and use medicinal mushrooms here on the GRuB store.
